Les Maîtres Vignerons de la Gourmandière, the 1st independant wine producer in the central region, have a production surface area of 400 hectares with 90% of grape types named « Touranie region » and 10% of Vin de Pays Gardens of France. The Coopérative cellar has 150 members.
With a capacity of 80 000 hectolitres and an average production of 25 000 hectolitres represented by 74 % of red grape types (Gamay 36%, Cabernet 21%,
Côt 8%, and others 9%) and 26% of white grape types (Sauvignon 15%, Chenin 9% and Chardonnay 2%).
Our vines are principally located in the Valley of the Loire and Cher. Consisting of sand and clay and occasional sectors of chalky soil.
Our main types of vines are Gamay noir –for the red wines- which can be characterised by its lightness, fruitiness and spicy side, accompanied according to the terrain of grape types more or less tannic like Cabernet and Malbeck (Cot).
The majority of the red wines, as for the early wines, are issued from the Gamay noir. A less tannic structure and slightly acid savour explains the success of this product.

It is now 16 years that the cooperative society of the Maîtres Vignerons de la Gourmandière has created the brotherhood of cavaliers of the Gourmandière to promote their wines named “Touraine”, which saw the light of day in 1993 and held the first chapter « called Budding » on the 24th of April.
Over 130 ladies and gentlemen and noble sires were accepted into the order in our cellar situated in Civray, sacred temple of wine, under the Tufa of the Rousselière.
Our brotherhood, composed by a Grand Master, a Master of ceremonies, a Grand Chamberlain, a Grand Chancellor and about ten or so other disciples, hold a chapter in April and also other exceptional chapters like the Saint Vincent of Francueil, at the beginning of the early Touraine wine season in November, with our different clients from the large distribution circle.

With our motto: « The pleasure of our ladies, The Secret of our kings », our brotherhood pays homage to our winegrowers and celebrates a bacchic mass, following Dionysos, in glory of the marvellous association of the vines, the wine grower and the noble wine itself...
