The cooperative society of the Maîtres Vignerons de la Gourmandière created the “Confrérie des Chevaliers de la Gourmandière” over 18 years ago to promote it’s Touraine wines. The society was created in 1993 and the first chapter unfolded on the 24th of April of that year.
Nearly 130 noble ladies & gentlemen have been initiated into our sacred temple of wine set in the touffeau of the Rousselière.
Our fraternity, composed of the Grand Master, the Master of Ceremonies, the Grand Chamberlin, the Lord Chancellor & a dozen other followers, holds an annual gathering in September, known as the “Chapitre septembrale”, as well as other meetings such as the Saint Vincent de Francueil, (22nd January), plus the unveiling of the Touraine Primeur (3rd Thursday of November)...
With our motto: “the pleasure of our ladies, the secret of our kings”, our brotherhood pays homage to all our winegrowers & celebrates a bacchanalian mess as disciples to Dionysos , to the glory of this marvellous association between the vine, wine-makers & wine.
